RS 3 gets set for the customer sport market
And it’s go for the all-new Audi RS 3 LMS. With the all-new Audi RS 3 having been debuted at the Paris Motor Show in September 2016, the LMS version has been developed by Audi Sport customer racing as the new entry-level model, allowing even more Audi customers to get involved in Audi’s customer sport program by joining in the relatively new TCR category, which has already offered ten TCR series with races in 18 countries in 2016, including at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring and as part of the FIA Formula One World Championship supporting program.
The all-new Audi RS 3 LMS is all about performance with 0-62mph in some 4.5 seconds and a top speed of about 150mph, and this TCR version produces 330hp from its 2.0 TFSI engine. Safety is paramount for Audi Sport customer racing, and the Audi RS 3 LMS comes with an FIA-conformant safety fuel tank, the PS3 safety seat, a racing safety cell and FIA safety nets on both sides of the seat, as well as a rescue hatch in the roof.
The Audi RS 3 LMS will be available in two versions: the TCR version with a sequential six-speed racing transmission and a club sport version, both will benefit from an excellent and proven approach to support and parts supply. Delivery will start from December 2016, so Audi Sport customers can be all ready to go for the 2017 TCR series.
