The all-new RS 3 Sportback: coming soon with power, technology and design enhanced
It’s clear the all-new Audi RS 3 Sportback delivers exhilarating performance. From the air of power and purpose it exudes from its sleek, muscular bodywork to the unmistakably full-bodied and characterful sound of its five-cylinder turbocharged engine, this is an Audi Sport model true to its motorsport roots. Now producing no less than 400PS of raw power and 480Nm of torque, it accelerates from 0-62mph in just 4.1 seconds and provides an uncompromised drive that is sure to leave you wanting more. The 2017 Audi RS 3 Sportback will be available to order this summer, but you can register your interest with M25 Audi right now to be among the first to get the latest on the newest RS model.
With a wider track necessitating flared front arches and pronounced sills, there’s a direct link to its forebears, the quattro coupés of the eighties. Other hallmarks of the RS family include the large single-frame grille with gloss black honeycomb mesh and the substantial air inlets. At the rear of this high performance hatchback is an enlarged roof-edge spoiler, a diffuser insert and the large oval tailpipes of the exhaust system, together adding a determined resolution to the RS 3’s already purposeful stance. Sizeable 19-inch alloy wheels and a 25mm reduction in ride height give the RS 3 that unapologetically foursquare posture. Pure performance. Pure Audi Sport.
The mighty engine’s output delivers incredible power to the road. Combining TFSI turbocharging and direct injection technology, the 2.5-litre engine in the RS 3 is the world’s most powerful production five-cylinder engine. Now with 400PS of firepower and 480Nm of torque, it accelerates from 0-62mph in just 4.1 seconds, and goes on to 155mph in standard form, with up to 174mph possible when the optional dynamic package is specified. Engine responsiveness is better than ever thanks to maximum torque that is produced from as little as 1,700rpm and available to the driver until 5,850rpm. Despite such extraordinary performance, the RS 3 Sportback returns up to 34mpg combined for emissions of as little as 189g/km CO2.
The new RS 3 Sportback's specification includes quattro permanent all-wheel drive technology which delivers adjustability with extraordinary poise. Varying the power that is channelled between the front and rear axles automatically, it provides exceptional grip in the most demanding situations, working in tandem with the ESC system, which boasts wheel-selective torque control and a sport mode specially tuned for the RS. The power that the quattro system allocates to the rear axle can also be influenced by the driver using the standard Audi drive select system, which adjusts the response of the steering, transmission, engine management, exhaust flaps and optional adaptive damper RS sport suspension as well. Control is provided by the high-performance braking systems, which consist of 310mm discs, front and rear, and for even greater power and increased endurance there are carbon-fibre ceramic front discs available as an option.
Control on the road
Everything within the all-new RS 3’s focused cabin has been designed to improve driver connection. The variable steering ratio results in a drive that is not only more agile, but also more engaging, while the manual operation of the sporty S tronic gearbox allows more precision and control, with gears shifting in less than 0.2 of a second. Sport seats in black fine Nappa leather are standard, and for even greater support there are optional RS sport seats with more contoured profiles and added sport luxury. The flat-bottomed leather steering wheel features Alcantara trim and aluminium-look gearshift paddles, for improved feel and comfort.
The two distinctive RS-styled circular instrument dials sit outside a driver information system that includes a boost pressure indicator, an oil thermometer and a lap timer. However, this can now be replaced by the stunning digital 12.3” LCD Audi virtual cockpit, tailored to the RS 3 with a special RS screen that relocates the rev counter to the centre and displays readings for torque, g‑forces and tyre pressure on either side. It also includes a shift-light system for when the S tronic gearbox is put in manual mode.

LED lighting technology
You can far more easily discover the road ahead, thanks to LED technology as standard. With a beam of light that is comparable to daylight, night-time driving is both more relaxed and more enjoyable, and both the headlights and brake lights boast a sleek design that completes the RS 3’s striking look. For even better visibility performance, matrix LED headlights are available as an option
The RS 3’s HDD-based MMI navigation system features 3D mapping and point-of-interest display, viewable via Google Earth and Street View, and can be operated by both speech and text, requiring minimal attention to be taken away from the road.
Smartphone connectivity Audi smartphone interface is now standard, enabling you to access selected apps via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the MMI connect app allows you to transfer data such as calendar info and destinations from your smartphone to the MMI system. A Wi-Fi hotspot is also offered, and Audi phone box allows wireless signal boosting and inductive charging.
Below 40mph, traffic jam assist can keep the car at a safe distance from the vehicle in front and can briefly take over the steering. Emergency assist automatically stops the car if required, and cross traffic assist rear looks out for crossing vehicles when the driver is pulling out of a parking space.
