Audi models win four top categories at the What Car? Awards 2017
Audi has once again found success at the What Car? awards, with four of its models each winning major categories at this year’s event. The judges of these prestigious awards gave top endorsements to the Audi A3 Sportback, A4, TT and Q7, in the Best Family Car, Best Executive Car, Best Coupé and Best Luxury SUV categories respectively. This continued success at one of the country’s leading consumer advice award ceremonies is yet more validation of Audi’s pursuit of Vorsprung durch Technik.
Audi A4 – Executive Car of the Year
The Audi A4 was What Car?’s 2016 Car of the Year and Executive Car of the Year, and this year it held onto the Best Executive Car crown. ‘Smoothest, quietest and best-finished car in its class. Once again it is the blend of performance, impressive efficiency and a generous standard specification offered by the A4 in 3.0 TDI 218PS Sport that makes it a winner,’ explained What Car? Editor Steve Huntingford, adding: ‘The A4’s exquisitely built interior offers the quality of a luxury car’s, and there’s a host of tech to enjoy. The A4 manages these feats only because Audi set out not to just compete, but to build the most complete executive car on the planet, and it’s certainly done so.’ Explore the Audi A4.
Audi TT – Coupé of the Year
The Audi TT’s award count continues to rise, the TT retaining its Coupé of the Year crown for the third year running in its current form. It also continues a winning streak that spans all three generations of TT, the model having won an unprecedented nine What Car? awards over the years. This year the TT won the overall Coupé category as well as the ‘less than £30,000’ one, with the 1.8 TFSI Sport 180PS model being singled out as the ‘Best Buy’. The editorial team recommended the TT as a ‘no-brainer’ for 2017. See more of the Audi TT Coupe.
Audi A3 Sportback - Family Car of the Year
Now comprehensively updated across the range, the Audi A3 is right back at the top of the class and presents the latest Audi innovation, from the stunning virtual cockpit to an array of assistance systems such as predictive efficiency assistant and traffic jam assist. ‘Even executive cars costing thousands more are shamed by its classy dashboard, rock-solid build quality and wonderful attention to detail,’ concluded What Car?. The A3 Sportback took 'Best Buy' in the £25,000-£35,000 class in 1.4 TFSI 150PS Sport form. Take a look at the Audi A3 Sportback.
Audi Q7 - Luxury SUV of the Year
‘Despite costing much less than an entry-level Range Rover, the Q7 is unquestionably a better all-rounder,’ explained Steve Huntingford. ‘It has a very plush interior, gets loads of standard kit and is incredibly refined; wind and road noise are negligible and the optional air suspension gives a supremely cushioned ride. Ultimately, luxury SUVs don’t get any more spacious, comfy, luxurious or sophisticated.’ What Car? chose the 3.0 TDI 272PS version of the Q7 as its pick of the range, impressed by its ‘powerful and silky-smooth’ engine, its ‘fast and slick’ eight-speed tiptronic transmission and its ample interior space. A further three Best Buy awards were awarded to other Audi models, the A3 Saloon, A3 Cabriolet and new A5 Coupé, all picking up honours at the awards ceremony. To find out more about any of the models chosen by What Car?, please call or send an email enquiry to our M25 Audi team.
