The Escape: celebrating 15 years since the ground-breaking series of short films by BMW
BMW of North America has announced the return of the hugely popular BMW Films series, for one more short film. Presented as a tribute to the 15th anniversary of the original BMW Film series, the new film is called 'The Escape', and again stars Clive Owen as the lead actor playing the mysterious “driver for hire”. However, the new short also features Dakota Fanning, Jon Bernthal and Vera Farmiga, and this time round has been directed by Academy Award nominated Neill Blomkamp.
The original series launched in 2001, and was a series of eight ground-breaking online short films starring Clive Owen as an enigmatic driver. Each film was a unique story, and featured stars like Madonna, Gary Oldman, Don Cheadle, Mickey Rourke and James Brown. The directors were similarly A-List, and included John Frankenheimer, Ang Lee, Guy Ritchie, John Woo and Tony Scott. Available only online, yet way before the dawn of YouTube, the films were critically acclaimed and still have a cult following today. The Escape will premiere on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at 23:00 on BMWFilms.com.
